Welcome to Churchery Preschool
located in Avon Memorial United Methodist Church

Our Story
Churchery Preschool is one of the top preschools in the Farmington Valley for children ages two through five. We are a nonprofit Connecticut state licensed Christian school, founded by the Avon Memorial United Methodist Church as a community outreach program in the mid-1970s. We welcome children of all ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds, as well as children with disabilities. We work hard to create a caring and nurturing environment. Our teachers are certified in Child First Aid, CPR and the administration of EpiPen for allergies
Learning through Play
Our philosophy is that children learn best through experience! Children will receive a wide array of opportunities to explore their world. We will encourage them to think creatively and use their natural abilities to grow. Children will become aware of letters, numbers and writing their name through developmentally appropriate activities. Each day provides choices of music, art, outdoor play, creative expression, and hands-on academics that include; reading, math and science.

The Kindness Pledge
I pledge to myself on this day
To try to be kind in every way
To every person, big and small
I will help them one and all
When I love myself and others, too
That is the best that I can do

Fostering Respect
At Churchery Preschool, children spend a lot of time practicing respect for other people. Every class begins by reciting "The Kindness Pledge." Our teachers guide the children in learning how to work through difficulties and how to express strong emotions in a healthy, constructive manner.

Parental Involvement
Parents are welcome anytime. We encourage visits and hands-on sharing in the classrooms. Parents provide us with many great ideas and suggestions. Our school's relationship with our parents is essential to the success of our program.
